This series of college research topics comes with overall background information on six waves of migration through Morocco: the Muslim conquest of medieval Spain, the later explusion of Jews and Muslims from Spain to Morocco, European colonialism in Morocco, movements because of world wars and Moroccan independence, and modern migration from (and across) Morocco to Europe. The project is a result of a 2019 University of Arizona-organized Fulbright-Hays Group Project Abroad curriculum development program to Morocco.
This syllabus was inspired by participation in the University of Arizona Center for Middle Eastern Studies 2019 NEH Institute "Understanding Middle East Millennials Through Literature, Culture, and Media."
